“Protection or Paranoia: Sharing Your LO's ALZ Diagnosis”
I’m J Smiles, comedian, Alzheimer’s and Dementia activist, and family caregiver. You may know me from Parenting Up™, where we’re a family of caregivers taking care of our family members together. Welcome to P.U.B. the Parenting Up Blog.
Sunshine and storms. Both are guaranteed in life. Although each brings a different emotion and experience, one can’t survive without the other. I mean, think about it, if you only experience sunshine in life, you would eventually lose the meaning of what sunshine was. You would become content, and less appreciative if you had it every single day. Same goes for the storms. So, if we know that each is a part of the territory for living, why not be prepared for anything that may come. Of course, we are not always in control of things that impact our lives, either good or bad. Many things happen to all of us that we ourselves can’t explain. Today, I want to tell you to always stay fortified. Stay strong and grounded in every aspect of life. The first, in my opinion, that acts as the first point of contact is the mental. If you are able to mentally defeat negative energies and people that try to cause you to lower your vibrations, you will be able to defeat them emotionally and physically (like walking away; physical actions.) If you’re not fortified yet, no worries, there’s no better time than today! Read books, journal, exercise; there’s countless things that you can do to strengthen yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. Once you achieve that, you will elevate in your life beyond measure. The most important ingredient for the success of this recipe is: know thyself. Be honest with yourself and true to you. Truly self reflect and discover your weaknesses, as to be able to hold them tightly. When you finally become fortified, you will never be swayed or broken down by anyone or anything.
