“But Dad Remembers Everything: A Conversation of FTD with Jeff Ton”

Things don’t always go as planned. I guess it’s a good habit to have to make out a plan. We plan for the day, we plan for the vacation, we plan for the party. But what about when things don’t go as planned? It’s not uncommon that things out of our control happen out of nowhere that put a complete stop on all the plans. What to do when that happens? Who do we call and ask the question of what to do? In my opinion, we call on ourselves. What do I mean by this? Okay, you’ve planned a wonderful day at the beach. The news forecast predicts 98 degree weather with no cloud in sight. Perfect! Okay, you pack yourself, maybe your family if you have one, and you’re on your way. When you park, it’s as beautiful as the prediction. You unpack, lay your towel down, and get nice and comfy. You close your eyes for ten seconds, then…. When you open your eyes, there is no sun in sight, and the rain is just pouring! This is not what you had planned for this trip. What should you do? Well, for one, don’t panic. Granted, this example is on the lighter side, something unplanned far worse could happen. But even then, don’t panic. Always try to keep clear sight and a clear mind regardless. When you do so, you will be more likely to be able to recover with grace. No, it won’t be what you planned, but maybe you will be better for that adjustment. Maybe it will make you stronger, wiser, more resilient. Today and every day, always remember: if something doesn’t go your way, just go another way.
